Okay the way I see it you guys are consumer zombies that just because someone has advertised something then it must be good. If Monster paid me a million dollars to advertise the beats i would too even If I think they’re not worth their price.
Another thing is Dr. Dre did not have any part on developing the beats. Monster simply asked him if they can get his name stamped on the product for a large amount of money because let’s be honest, I’m pretty SURE Dr. Dre has NO idea on what makes headphones sound good and why it does sound good. He probably knows how to sell a product,i.e.,NWA.
And you guys are comparing the AD700′s(which are Open-Ear Headphones) to the Beats which we all know are closed. That’s like comparing a Car to a motorcycle, Yes they both make sound but no they are not in the same league.
Let’s talk about quality, I have pair of beats I got from a friend on christmas and No they do not feel like 300$. They feel and sound like the 70$ skull candies skull crushers, heck my 150$ ATH-m50′s even feel better AND sound better than the beats.
People who know how to do a little research knows there are WAAAY better options than a 300$ headphones with emphasized bass. for 300$ im going monitors so you actually hear the music not just bloated bass. and if you like the bass you can go for the Sony MDR-XB700 which cost 3x less and has better sounding bass than the beats.

yeah, i agree with Wrong. those beats are more a piece of marketing than sound quality… even my $60 pioneer headphones (closed ear) reproduce more frequencies than those beats… and yes, the Sony’s XB line has pretty good headphones (in terms of bass and quality) at a very low price.

If beats were not good quality why would a kid who is pretty much deaf and his parents who have tried every headphone known to man recommend beats because there son could actually hear with them. I don’t own a pair yet but I have done so much research. Another thing I have no idea what you people are talking about with the rap/hip hop in case you don’t know about David Guetta he is one of my favs to listen to and he has been sporting beats since they first came out and his music is fantastic. You all know nothing Dre is awesome Monster did not ask him to put his name on it he doesn’t just give his name away to anything he designed these himself. So if you know anything about the music industry know this there is a reason majority of the world is now sporting beats it’s not a fad or a money grab these are actually awesome and work the way they are supposed to. So the next time you wannabes what to talk crap about one of the people that has not only inspired but is one of the most respected people in the music world you are nothing compared to him.
You obviously have NEVER tried ACTUAL headphones that cost $300+. I strongly suggest going to your local guitar center or your best buy and have a look see in the headphone section. I guarantee %100 that a beyerdynamic, sennheiser, AKG, Ultrasone or Denon’s will sound almost 100x better than the beats, the beats are amplified which means you’re not getting the actual sound of the song. If you guys want GOOD bass like the Beats, I would look into the Beyerdynamic DT990. I’m an avid hip-hop listener and trust me I’ve tried a lot of different headphones for hiphop.
