Every well cared for blog should have a Twitter feed helping to promote and attract more visitors to your blog. Twitter is also great for creating a fan base of people who follow you and will be interested in your updates.
It’s a great idea to post your blog posts to your Twitter feed as this will attract more visitors to your posts. However, it can be kinda of tedious to manually update your Twitter feed (every single day or however often you update your blog) with new blog posts from your blog.
The most popular feed service for any blog is Google Feedburner. If you have a Feedburner account you can sync your Twitter account with your blog feed for automatic updates. When logged in to your Feedburner account click on the Publicize tab after clicking on your feed, and then click on Socialize.
Socialize
“Connect your feed to the real-time social web! With Socialize, FeedBurner will automatically post updates from your feed to your social media account.”

And when Google says your “social media account”, it means Twitter. After connecting to your Twitter account Feedburner will now automatically update your Twitter status whenever you post a new blog post. Of course, there are many other ways to automatically update you Twitter status with blog updates like WordPress plug-ins and other services; however, Feedburner’s automatic hashtag feature is hard to beat.
The great thing about Twitter hashtags is you can find any tweet relating to any hashtag of your choice very easily. Using hashtags with your tweets is the best way to target a certain audience for your blog. Feedburner will automatically add hastags to blog posts updates that it sends to your Twitter feed.

That’s it! Now you have a set-it-and-forget-it automatic Twitter feed promoting your blog, and targeting an audience interested in your tweets using the automatic hashtag feature.
Great post Mike.
I’ve been using the WordPress plug-in “Auto Tweet” but the Feedburner socialize feature is a lot more useful especially when it comes to creating automatic hashtags!
Thanks!
